The Technology
We build, install and maintain your property cable TV system. ChannelBox delivers 100% digital programming to MDU properties via a satellite-delivered, private cable system. Once the signal is captured from satellite, it is then carried to the head-end located on your property, then distributed throughout the property to each of the residents’ units. Here’s a more detailed look:

• Satellite Dish – Unlike the cable companies who use huge satellite dishes to receive their programming before they distribute it through miles of cable, we install a small dish and a choice of penetrating or non-penetrating mount, either on the roof or located on southwest corner of your property. The satellite dish is inconspicuous and usually not noticeable. The satellite dish function is to gather programming signal from satellites, and then send it to your head-end equipment.
  
  
• Head-end Equipment – The head-end is where your cable system starts and ends. Since all the equipment is located directly on your property, usually in your equipment room/closet, it is called a “Private cable TV system.” The primary difference between your system and the local cable TV company is that by installing your own Private Cable System, you have eliminated miles of cables and failure points, thus virtually eliminating outages due to cable cuts. Each channel in your head-end requires 1-receiver and 1-modulator. A receiver tunes in to a specific single channel gathered from the satellite dish. The signal from the receiver is then sent to a modulator. The modulator allows you to choose what specific TV channel you would like to see a certain channel/program. For instance, if you would like to watch HBO on channel 3 and have NBC on channel 4, modulators make this possible. Additionally, other video and data sources can be “piped” through your private cable system with modulators. Surveillance cameras, on-screen channel guides, and internet access is all modulated the same way. We make choices possible. 
  
  
• Cable Distribution system – This system is the cable wiring within the building, which runs from your equipment room, throughout the building (or risers), and then branch off to each resident unit. These are typically already in place if your property already receives cable TV. Most properties own their own cable distribution systems. Once we install the head-end equipment, we simply integrate and plug into it your existing cable distribution system, sending your new channels to every unit within the property. No need for converter boxes. No more cable cuts. No additional fees for extra TVs or bedrooms. No more excuses.

Bulk-Rate Pricing offers huge discounts over retail cable TV pricing. Where retail pricing for an HBO channel from the cable company might be an additional cost of $12-15 per month on average, ChannelBox’s Bulk-Rate price for HBO is $3.50 per month, but not just for one HBO channel, for SEVEN different HBO channels. Custom Lineups
One of the greatest advantages we offer over the local cable company is providing Property Managers and Associations the ability to pick and choose and customize their entire channel lineup. There are many reasons why this is a key advantage:

1) Lower your costs. When a Property Association decides to include a premium movie channel from the local cable company, they must order up a ladder of services. This means that a property cannot simply order “Basic” cable with a movie channel. Instead, they must order through a tiered system. In order to receive the premium movie channel, the property must order the “Digital” package, which includes all the “Basic” package channels, the “Extended Basic” package channels, converter box rental, and finally, the movie channel fee. With ChannelBox, properties can simply select from our a-la-carte menu of channels. No limits, unlimited choices.
